This Wednesday, we will be meeting in the Connect room at Holy Spirit at 7:30 as we usually do for a talk by Fr. Michael Bliszcz on the topic of the Eastern Rite.  Should be an interesting topic and hopefully you can make it. 

Easter Celebratory Dinner/Engagement Party @ Brian’s!

This Saturday at 6 pm, Brian Nolan has graciously offered to host an Easter celebratory dinner at his house in Muskegon.  We will also be celebrating Brian and Tiffany’s recent engagement!!!!  The menu will be as follows.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP to the facebook event by this Thursday so that he can get a final head count in time to prepare enough food.  And in honor of St. Rose Venerini, whose feast day is May 7, please wear something red.  This will be a lot of fun, so hopefully you can all make it!

 
Salad: Fresh Greens and a selection of dressings.
Dinner: Steak, potato, vegetable, bread, and Brian’s famous Gorgonzola Mushroom Sauce
Dessert: A special selection to be prepared by the hosts
Drinks: A selection of wine from the Nolan cellars will accompany dinner.

May Adoration and Confession/Vision Meeting

This Wednesday is the first Wednesday of May already, which means we’ll be having Adoration and Confession upstairs in the chapel at Holy Spirit at 7:30.  Prior to this at 6:45, we’ll be having our monthly vision meeting downstairs in the connect room where we’ll be discussing upcoming events, etc.  Please come share your ideas! 

Fellowship Night-Games, Food and Fun!

In keeping with the celebratory season of Easter, instead of having a speaker this week Wednesday, we will be having a fellowship night of games and food!  So please bring your favorite games (or cards) and a dish to pass and we’ll have a relaxing night of fun with fellow Connectors.  We’ll be meeting as usual in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30. 

New grCatholic Facebook and Twitter Pages / Updates

I’ve gone around and made some changes and updates to a few things.  First, the Facebook page was not being properly utilized, and I found someone with access to the admin to add me to it so that I could get it up to speed with proper updates.  I’ve also added the fan box to the site here, as you can see.

The Facebook page will automatically update a short while after something is posted here.

Not just that, but I’ve also got a Twitter account set up.  Whenever the Facebook page is updated, that too will automatically update.

These changes should increase participation and social communication between group members, as they also increase visibility on the web.

April Service Project/Joanna’s Birthday Celebration

It’s the third Wednesday of April this week.  So that means we’ll be meeting at The Pregnancy Resource Center (415 Cherry St. SE, Grand Rapids) from 6:30 to 8:00 to do some cleaning.  Following this, we’ll be heading over to Cygnus 27 in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel (187 Monroe Avenue NW  Grand Rapids) to help Joanna celebrate her birthday!  Just be sure to bring a change of clothes, as there is a dresscode to get in (business casual is appropriate, just not jeans and a tshirt like you’d wear for cleaning).  And parking should be free with a stamped ticket from the Amway parking ramp. 
 

Soup & Stations @ The Cathedral of Saint Andrews

This Friday, we’ll be getting together to attend Soup & Stations at the Cathedral of Saint Andrews in downtown Grand Rapids (265 Sheldon SE  Grand Rapids, MI 49503).  Soup and bread supper will be at 6 pm in the Parish Center followed by the Stations of the Cross at 7 pm in the Church. 

April Speaker/Group Prayer

This Wednesday, we’ll be having our first speaker for April!  Jim Penrice will be speaking at 7:30  pm in the Connect room at Holy Spirit on the New Mass Translation (what to expect, what the changes are, how we will see these implemented, etc).  He is a parishoner and active lay member of St. Mary’s in Spring Lake, as well as Director of Faith Formation at St. Mary’s and the Adult Coordinator for RCIA and other programs offered for both Catholics and non-Catholics interested in the Church.  He’s an excellent speaker and has also written and published several books.  Prior to this at 7 pm in the Connect room, we’ll be having a group prayer session. 

Trifecta Young Adult Charity Dance @ Our Lady of Consolation Church in Rockford

This Saturday April 9 is the Trifecta Young Adult Charity Dance at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Rockford (4865 11 Mile Rd. Rockford, MI).  Come join us for a great night of food and fun while helping out a wonderful cause at the same time. The evening begins at 6:00 with appetizers. Dinner prepared by the Knights of Columbus will be served from 6:30 until 7:30. We will then have group contra dancing with instruction from 7:30 til 8:30. Open dance will then follow from 8:30 until 11:00. Dress is semi-formal to formal and the cost is only a donation. All proceeds from the evening will go to benefit the Consolata Missionary Sisters.  Please RSVP via the facebook event below if you will be joining us for dinner.
