This month we have 5 Wednesdays instead of the typical 4 so we are planning on doing something a little different this week Wednesday and will be having a kickball game on the baseball diamond behind Holy Spirit at 7 pm (yes a half hour earlier than usual) and a BBQ! Please bring a dish to pass and your mad kickball skills and we’ll have a night of food and fun. Check out the facebook event below, rsvp and post what you’ll be bringing so we don’t end up with 10 of the same thing.

Due to the very few people who would have been able to attend, we’ve canceled the all day retreat we were planning to have this Saturday and instead will be having a Connect Bonfire at Amy Raha’s house in Grand Haven (see the facebook event for the address) from 7pm to 2am Saturday night. Appropriate bonfire food will be provided (hot dogs, s’mores, etc). BYOB if you want anything other than lemonade or tea. It will be a fun relaxing night with friends, so hopefully you can all make it! Please check out the facebook event below and RSVP if you will be coming or not by Friday night so that Amy can get a final count for food/drinks.

This Wednesday, we’ll be having our very own Phil Dolci, one of the original founding Connect members, speaking at our weekly meeting! The topic is still TBD, but I’m sure no matter what he speaks on, it will be an enjoyable discussion. So please come join us. We’ll be meeting in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30 and then heading out to Applebees afterwards for a bite to eat as we usually do.

Please join us this Wednesday from 6:30-8 for our monthly service project cleaning the Pregnancy Resource Center (415 Cherry St. SE, Grand Rapids). Following this, we’ll probably go out and grab a bite to eat.

This week Wednesday, instead of having a speaker as we usually do the second Wednesday of the month, we’ll be mixing things up a bit and meeting at St. Micheals Ukranian Catholic Church (154 Gold Avenue Northwest Grand Rapids) at 7 pm. Fr. Michael Bliszcz has generously offered to do a special Mass just for Connect as a follow-up to his speaking event a few weeks back on the Eastern Rite . As a sign of respect, please make sure you are a few minutes early. After Mass, if you want to stick around, we’ll most likely go out and grab a bite somewhere close by.

Seeing as it’s the first Wednesday of June this week (yay summer!), we’ll be having adoration and confession again with Father Mark Martin in the chapel at Holy Spirit at 7:30. Prior to this at 6:45, we’ll be meeting in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit for our monthly vision meeting to discuss upcoming events, etc. Please come join us and bring your ideas.

This Wednesday, we’ll be having another Theology on Tap (TOT) at Derby Station (2237 Wealthy St. SE Grand Rapids) at 7 pm. The topic of discussion will be “Does Love Win?” with Scott Nolan (brother of our own Brian Nolan), a seminarian in 2nd Theology at St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. He is currently serving his internship at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Wyoming, MI and previously attended St. John Vianney at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN where he received his BA in Philosophy.

We also have an event this Sunday, our May Corporate Communion. We’ll be attending Noon Mass at Holy Spirit, followed by a potluck/barbecue at Walker City Park (just a few blocks north of Lake Michigan Drive on Cummings (between Wilson and Kinney)). Bring a dish to pass and your favorite yard game (there is also Volleyball and Basketball). It’s time for another random fun event for this month…this Friday, Ron Lovelace will be hosting a movie night at his house. It will kick off with a pizza dinner at 7 pm (please bring a few dollars to put towards the pizza if you plan to attend this portion), followed by a wild game of Spoons and finally a scary movie (TBD) around 9:30 in honor of it being Friday the 13th! A facebook event including the address will be out shortly.
