It’s already the third week of November, which means we’ll once again be doing our monthly service project, cleaning at the Pregnancy Resource Center downtown (415 Cherry St. SE, Grand Rapids). Please meet there at 6:30. Afterwards we’ll be heading out for a bite to eat.

It’s time for another Connect Theology on Tap! Please join us this Wednesday at Derby Station (2237 Wealthy St. SE, Grand Rapids) at 7 pm for an evening with Fr. Vince O’Malley, Director of St. Lazare Retreat House, as he discusses Catholic Spiritualities: Past, Present & Future. For those of you who are new to Theology on Tap, a presentation is given at a local restaurant while the audience relaxes and enjoys the food, drink, and ambiance of the location. It’s a relaxing way to learn a little and meet new people.

Can you believe it, it’s already November! Well seeing as this Wednesday is the first Wednesday of the month, we’ll be having our usual Adoration and Confession in the chapel at Holy Spirit with Fr. Mark at 7:30 pm. Prior to this at 6:45 in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit, we’ll be having our monthly vision meeting. This months meeting is particularly important, as we will be opening nominations for our officers for the upcoming year. In order for all of the things we do at Connect to happen successfully, we need to have a team of volunteers who are willing to serve our group as members of the leadership team. If you are interested in serving or just want more information about what opportunites are available, please come to the meeting or if you are unable to attend, just shoot us an email at

This coming Monday is Halloween, which means it’s time for the Fifth Annual Trick-or-Can food drive from 5:30-8:30 pm! For you Trick-or-Canning newbies, this is our most fun service project of the year! We get dressed up, go door to door in the neighborhoods surrounding Holy Spirit and say “Trick or Can!” and collect canned/boxed goods, which are donated to Holy Spirit’s food pantry and then distributed to people in need for Thanksgiving. For this event, please meet in the Connect room at Holy Spirit at 5:30. After we’ve stashed the food at Holy Spirit, we’ll have a little get-together and possibly go out to eat. Please RSVP asap so that we can begin planning for how to assemble our collection teams.

Mark your calendars…the Annual Connect Halloween Party is coming up on Saturday, October 29th from 5 pm – 2 am and we’re also including the Annual Scavenger Hunt as well! Amy Raha has generously offered to host the event this year at her parents house in Grand Haven (see Facebook event for address). We’ll kick off the night with the Scavenger Hunt around town, then head back to the house for a night full of games, food, music, drinks and a bonfire. Prizes go to best dressed and please no scary, gory or horror-themed costumes. BYOB and feel free to bring treats and/or candy to share. Please RSVP by no later than Oct. 22nd so she can get an accurate head count to prepare.

As a recent convert to the Church, Michael has a great story of the personal journey of faith that God has taken him on and he would like to share it with all of us. So please meet in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30. And afterwards we’ll head over to Applebees for a bite to eat like we usually do.

This Sunday evening, we’ll be having our Corporate Communion for October. This month, it will be at St. Mary’s in Muskegon (239 West Clay Avenue, Muskegon) for 5 pm mass. Following mass, we’ll head across the parking lot to Hennessy’s Irish Pub for some dinner and drinks.
