This week Wednesday, instead of having a speaker like we usually do the second week of the month, we will be joining together as a group to celebrate Ash Wednesday mass at Holy Spirit at 7pm. We will meet in the narthex of the church 15 minutes prior to mass so we can sit as a group. Please make sure to be on time or you may not be able to find the rest of the group or sit together, as this mass was very full last year and will likely be this year as well. Following mass, we’ll head down to the Connect room to learn an ancient method of prayer begun by St. Ignatius called ‘The Daily Examen’. If you would like to get acquainted with this form of prayer before Wednesday, there is a helpful internet: http://www.ignatianspirituality.com/ignatian-prayer/the-examen/.

This week Wednesday, we’ll be meeting in the Connect room at Holy Spirit at 7pm for our monthly Vision Meeting to discuss upcoming events and ideas for the group. We’d love your input so please come join us! Then around 7:30 or 7:45, we’ll head upstairs to the Chapel for Adoration and Confession with Fr. Mark. Finally we’ll grab a bite to eat at Applebees when we’re done.

This week Wednesday, seeing as there is an extra Wednesday in January, we will be having a game night and potluck in the Connect room at Holy Spirit at 7:30pm! So bring your favorite games, a dish to pass (please don’t everyone bring chips!) and plates/utensils/drinks for yourself (these are usually what no one ends up bringing so it’s probably easiest just to have everyone be responsible for their own) and we’ll kick back, relax and have a fun night with great friends.

Seeing as it is already the fourth Wednesday of the month and we finished the Catholicism Series in December that we had been watching every fourth Wednesday, this week Wednesday, we will be introducing the book “The Imitation of Christ” by Thomas Kempis. We will break into groups to read the first few sections of the book and will reflect and pray on what has been read. Below is a brief description. We will meet in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30pm and will head out to Applebees for a bite to eat afterwards.
One of the best-loved books of Christianity after the Bible, The Imitation of Christ is a passionate celebration of God and His love, mercy and holiness, which has inspired conversion and stimulated religious devotion for over five hundred years. With great personal conviction, Thomas à Kempis (1380-1471) demonstrates the individual’s reliance on God and on the words of Christ, and the futility of life without faith. Thomas spent some seventy years of his life in the reclusive environment of monasteries, yet in this astonishing work he demonstrates an encompassing understanding of human nature and his writing speaks to readers of every age and every nation.

This week Wednesday we will meet in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30pm for something a little different than usual. As we enter the second week of the new year, opportunity will be given to reflect back on the past year and to look ahead to this new year. Time will be opened up to share about what ways you experienced God’s presence in your life this past year, times where God felt absent, and what are some things you are looking forward to this year. We will then gather into smaller groups to learn an ancient method of prayer begun by St. Ignatius called ‘The Daily Examen’. If you would like to get acquainted with this form of prayer before this Wednesday, there is a helpful internet:

This week Wednesday, we will be having Adoration and Confession with Fr. Mark like we usually do the first Wednesday of the month. However, we will NOT be having the Vision Meeting due to our our Annual Planning Retreat being this Sunday 1/6 (more info to come later this week once we get the final details worked out). So we’ll meet in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30pm for introductions and will head upstairs to the chapel around 7:45pm. And we’ll grab a bite to eat at Applebees afterwards.
