This week Wednesday, we are back at Holy Spirit and will be meeting in the Connect room at 7:30 pm.  We’ll be getting into small groups to read and discuss the book ‘The Imitation of Christ’ by Thomas Kemphis that we started in January and have continued off and on throughout the year.  Don’t worry if you weren’t here for the previous chapters, you will not be lost.  Each chapter does not necessarily build on the one before like a story, but is a collection of ideas and lessons that do relate to each other, but do not need to be read in order. Once we’re done, we’ll head out to Applebees for a bite to eat.

Also coming up as part of becoming more involved with Holy Spirit Parish, we will be volunteering at Holy Spirit Parish’s annual festival, September 20-22. If you are able to help, please sign up asap.  Sign up sheets are located in the Narthex of the Church.

It is already the third week of September, so that means this week Wednesday, we will be doing our monthly service project, cleaning at the Wyoming Pregnancy Resource Center (2438 28th St. SW Wyoming, MI 49519) from 6:30-8pm.  Just meet there at 6:30 and you’ll easily find the rest of us. Once we’re done, we’ll head out for a bite to eat.

This coming Wednesday we will be meeting in our usual spot, the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30pm, but instead of a speaker like we usually have the second Wednesday of the month, we will be talking about a re-model of our meeting room and becoming more of a ministry of Holy Spirit Parish than we have been in the past. Holy Spirit has been very gracious in allowing us to use their facilities over the years. Becoming part of the parish will allow us to be more involved and have a better presence, making recruitment of membership easier. Even if you haven’t been in awhile or can only come for part of the night, please come and share your ideas and thoughts as we make these exciting new changes. We would really like to have everyone’s opinions, as the group is all about you.  Holly Dolci, the new youth minister at Holy Spirit, will be there to explain in more detail and answer any questions. She may even have a drawing of the re-model from the architect. Many of you know Holly as she has been involved with Connect in the past and her husband Phil is the one who started Catholic Connect. If we have time, we will finish off the night with some Bible trivia!

Mark.  And then of course Applebees when we’re done.

Because this Thursday is the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation, we decided it is only appropriate that we attend the vigil mass together as a group Wednesday night instead of meeting in the Connect room at Holy Spirit like we usually do.  So please come out and join us this Wednesday night at St. Anthony’s Church (2510 Richmond St. NW Grand Rapids) for the 7pm vigil mass.  Try to get there a little early, 15 minutes or so, so we can meet in the narthex of the church and all sit together.  Once it’s done, we’ll find a local restaurant to grab a late dinner at and help our Connect President, Tom Westrick, celebrate his birthday!
