To kick off another great year of Connect, please come join us for our first speaker of the year this Wednesday at 7:45pm in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit Church (we had to move the start time back 15 minutes due to scheduling conflicts with the room)! Jeff Yerrick will be speaking on the topic of Mary and how she has played a pertinent role in his faith journey. He will also be promoting an upcoming movie called “Mary of Nazareth”. Jeff is a member of the Knights of Columbus, an active parishoner at St. Isidore, and and is very involved in the Catholic community of the Diocese of Grand Rapids.Afterwards, we’ll head out to Applebees in Standale for some food and fellowship!

If you’re trying to decide how to ring in the new year, come join us for the Annual Connect New Year’s Eve Party!  It will be held on Tuesday, December 31st at 7pm at Erin and Edwin Choi’s house (see Facebook invite for address). Please bring a dish to pass and a game to play. They will provide some champagne for toasting in the New Year, but BYOB if you want something different. Remmeber to RSVP to the facebook event below so they know how many people to expect.

This week Wednesday, we will be doing our monthly service project, Cleaning at the Wyoming Pregnancy Resource Center (2438 28^th Street SW  Wyoming, MI 49519) from 6:30 to 8pm. Once we’re done, we’ll head out for a bite to eat at a local restaurant.  If you’d like to join us and haven’t been before, just come to the PRC at 6:30 and you can’t miss us.

This week Wednesday, in the spirit of the season, we will be meeting in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 7:30pm to watch “The Star of Bethlehem”, a short documentary that unlocks the mystery behind the astronomical events at the advent of Christ, in other words, how the stars foretold the coming of Christ. Also, seeing as it’s almost Christmas, please bring your favorite Christmas treat to share, whether it be dessert or something healthy. It’s so much more fun watching a movie with some snacks!

It’s that time again…time to celebrate the end of another liturgical year and of course the beginning of a new one! And what better way to celebrate than with an ugly sweater party!  Please come join us Saturday, December 7th at 7pm at the Meyer’s house (see Facebook event for address) for a night of friends and festivities at the Connect End of the Liturgical Year/Ugly Sweater Party.  Hors d’oeuvres will be provided, but please bring your favorite sugary Christmas treat to share.  There will also be basic beverages like pop, punch, hot chocolate, but if you’d like anything else, please BYOB.  And remember, you must wear an ugly sweater to get in the door, so start shopping now! Next week Wednesday, we will be having our monthly Vision Meeting, which will be particularly important because we will not only be discussing upcoming events and ideas for the group, but will be voting on the officers for Connect for next year!  So please try your best to come so we have everyone’s input to make the right choice for each position. If you were not at the meeting when we took nominations, but would be interested in a leadership position, please just let us know and we’ll add you to the list of nominees.  We will meet in the Narthex/lobby of Holy Spirit at 7pm and head into one of the open rooms off the Narthex.  Once we’re done, around 7:30/45, we’ll move to the Chapel for Adoration and Confession with Fr. Mark, and then around 9, out to Applebees for a bite to eat.
