We’ll be having another TOT! Deacon Denny Williams will be speaking to the young adults of the Diocese of Grand Rapids about “Deacon Duties: Baptism, Marriage, Funerals.” He will start speaking promptly at 7:30, but we recommend coming a little early to get a seat, order food and socialize, then we’re all seated and ready by 7:30. Please feel free to invite any friends/family/young adults you think might be interested in the topic or learning more about our group. For those of you who have not been to a TOT before, it is an opportunity to get together and listen to a speaker at a local restaurant/bar, outside of the normal Connect room atmosphere so it’s a little more laid back and fun.Check out the Facebook event and RSVP-

Join us for another Corporate Communion at one of our local parishes. We will be attending 11am Mass at IHM as a group. After mass we will get a bite to eat before heading to the bowling alley for some fun and fellowship! Please meet in the Narthex of the Church 15 minutes before Mass so we can all find each other and sit together. Hope to see you all there!

This week, we’ll be having Adoration and Confession with Fr. Mark in the Chapel just off the Narthex of Holy Spirit Church. If you haven’t been to it before, Fr. Mark will kick off Adoration and then while he’s hearing confessions in the small room off the back of the chapel, we’ll spend time sitting quietly, reflecting and saying a rosary.
Prior to Adoration and Confession, we’ll meet in the Connect Room in the basement of Holy Spirit for our Monthly Vision Meeting. This time, instead of just discussing ideas for the group, we will be having officer nominations for next year’s Connect leadership team. So if you feel called to play a larger role than just coming to the weekly meetings and would be interested, please consider nominating yourself or someone you think would be a good fit. Elections will take place at December’s Vision meeting. Remember, Connect doesn’t exist without your ideas and participation. Afterwards we’ll head out for a bite to eat.

Join us for our annual service project on Halloween! We dress up on Halloween night and go door-to-door collecting canned goods for a local food pantry (Just like you used to do when you were a little kid, but with a different purpose!). We will meet in the Connect room in the basement of Holy Spirit at 5:30 pm. From there we will split into groups for carpooling and head out into the neighborhoods we handed out flyers in the previous week. We should be done collecting food and dropping it back off at HS around 8:30. And don’t forget to wear a Halloween costume!
After dropping off the food we will head to Emily Raap’s house (see Facebook event for address) for pizza, snacks and fellowship. Please BYOB.

Due to Trick or Can being this Friday, we will not be meeting as a group this Wednesday. However, if you are able, we do need help distributing flyers to the neighborhoods near Holy Spirit notifying them that we’ll be coming around to collect canned goods Friday. If anyone is able to help, meet outside the Connect room at 6pm and post on the Facebook event wall to let Sara Heckman, our service Chair, that you’ll be coming so she knows to wait for you. …and as an incentive to help Sara will buy pizza for those who can come!

- Connect Retreat!

- Franciscan Life Process Center-11650 Downes St. NE Lowell, MI 49331
Join us for a day long retreat with the Franciscan Sisters. The theme will be practical spirituality and there will be talks on “What does it Mean to be Catholic?” as well as a talk on the Rosary, a Rosary, Adoration, possibly a service project, and a pot luck lunch. Please bring a dish to pass (crockpots are ok, as there will be places to plug them in) and post on the event wall what you’ll be bringing so there is enough variety. Sara Heckman, our Service Chair, will be providing Sloppy Joes for the meat portion of lunch. The cost of the retreat will be $25 per person to cover the cost of the room and other expenses. Please RSVP ASAP if you haven’t already so we can get a final headcount.

We’ll be watching and discussing the new video series, Symbolon-The Catholic Faith Explained. It is a compelling presentation of the Catholic faith. Through beautifully crafted teaching and state-of-the-art video, author and speaker Dr. Edward Sri leads a team of dynamic teachers who provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of what the Catholic Church teaches and how to live it. After the video and discussion, we’ll head over to Applebees in Standale for a bite to eat.
