This week we’ll be watching and discussing the new video series, Symbolon-The Catholic Faith Explained. If you missed the first few episodes, it is okay! The episodes don’t always connect with the previous ones. It is a compelling presentation of the Catholic faith. Through beautifully crafted teaching and state-of-the-art video, author and speaker Dr. Edward Sri leads a team of dynamic teachers who provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of what the Catholic Church teaches and how to live it. After the video and discussion, we’ll head over to Applebee’s in Standale for a bite to eat.

We’ll be having Adoration and Confession with Fr. Mark in the Chapel just off the Narthex of Holy Spirit Church. If you haven’t been to it before, Fr. Mark will kick off Adoration and then while he’s hearing confessions in the small room off the back of the chapel, we’ll spend time sitting quietly, reflecting and saying a rosary. Afterwards we’ll head out for a bite to eat.
Prior to Adoration and Confession, we’ll meet in the Connect Room in the basement of Holy Spirit. to do introductions and pass out calendars. There is no vision meeting due to yearly planning meeting this past weekend.

It’s that time of the year again! Time to organize Catholic Connect for 2015. Please bring yourselves, your ideas and a small dish to pass. Sara will provide soup and bread to eat. We will be gathering at Immaculate Heart of Mary – Grand Rapids for 11 am Mass and then we will meet at the Happy House for the actual planning session. This is open to everyone, not just the leadership team so please come share what you like or what you’d like to see different about the group and ideas for speakers and events for next year. We don’t set everything in stone, but it really helps to lay out a framework for the year. Hope to see you all there…remember, Connect doesn’t exist without all of your ideas and participation:)

- Connect New Year’s Eve Party!

This year, Brian and Tiffany Nolan will be hosting the Annual Connect New Year’s Eve party. It will start with appetizers around 7:30pm and dinner to follow, so if you are planning to attend, please RSVP by the 29th so that they have a good idea of how much food to have. They will supply the food (and some beverages), but if there is something specific you would like to drink, feel free to bring it along.
They have a lot of places to sleep (couches, guest bedroom, and air mattress), so if you would like to stay the night, that is OK – just let us know.
Finally, remember that January 1st is a Holy Day of Obligation for the Feast of Mary, Mother of God. We will probably be attending a vigil mass before the party.

Dig out your ugly sweaters! It’s time for Catholic Connect’s annual Ugly-Sweater Themed Christmas party. This year, it will be held at Edwin and Erin’s Choi’s house. We’ll be having another TOT! Deacon Dan Schneider will be speaking to the young adults of the Diocese of Grand Rapids about “Discovering Intimacy in a Relationship”. He will start speaking promptly at 7:30, but we recommend coming a little early to get a seat, order food and socialize, then we’re all seated and ready by 7:30. Please feel free to invite any friends/family/young adults you think might be interested in the topic or learning more about our group. For those of you who have not been to a TOT before, it is an opportunity to get together and listen to a speaker at a local restaurant/bar, outside of the normal Connect room atmosphere so it’s a little more laid back and fun.
