- Connect Canoe Trip

Mark your calendars! The ANNUAL CONNECT CANOE TRIP will be held the 3rd weekend of July (Friday 7/22- Sunday 7/24).
We will camp at Baxter Bridge Campground (http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=594&type=SFCG) along the Manistee River Fridaynight. Saturday morning, we’ll load our gear into canoes and head off down the river. Once it gets to be dinner time, we’ll look for a nice flat spot on the side to set up camp for the night. Sunday morning we’ll load the canoe’s again and finish the trip at the canoe livery (www.wildernesscanoetripsonline.com) around 1 or 2. If you can’t make it Fri night, but want to meet us at the canoe livery by 9am Sat morning, that works too.
Mass will be in the evening at St. Andrews Cathedral in downtown GR, either at 5:30 pm or 7:30 pm Sunday depending on when we get back.
This is a very laid back and fun trip, no canoeing/camping expertise needed. We aren’t paddling all day, every day and stop several times along the way to go swimming, climb dunes, have lunch, shoot each other with water guns, swing on random rope swings if we happen to find some, etc. and in the evenings we hang out by the fire, make smores, maybe say a group rosary and just enjoy fellowship with great friends. It’s a great way to get away and relax.

We will start with our usual monthly meeting where we will be discussing next month’s activities.
We will be having Adoration and Confession in the Chapel just off the Narthex of Holy Spirit Church. If you haven’t been to it before, Father will kick off Adoration and then while he’s hearing confessions in the small room off the back of the chapel, we’ll spend time sitting quietly, reflecting and saying a rosary.

Seeing as it’s summer and great weather, what a better way to spend a Wednesday night than with great friends and great food! We’d like to invite all young adults throughout the Diocese to a kickball game and potluck at the baseball fields behind Holy Spirit Church on Wed 6/29 at 7 pm.
We’ll eat first at 7, then play ball. Please post what you are bringing so we can have a good variety of food. Hot dogs will be provided. If it rains, we’ll head inside the basement of the Church for a game night. So bring your favorite game if it’s looking crumby out.

Grab your bathing suit and sand toys and come join us for our first beach day of the summer! We’ll meet just outside the bath house at Hoffmaster State Park beach for an afternoon of fun in the sun. Bring friends, beach games and a snack to share. Please post on the event wall what you’ll be bringing so we have some variety.
And if anyone’s interested in carpooling seeing as you do either have to have an annual state park pass or purchase a day pass, just post on the event wall and we’ll see what we can work out.
